This is why I argue that quality—at least in the traditional sense of polished, well-produced content—does not matter as much as people think. What really matters is being extremely unique. You need a unique edge over everyone else in your niche.

Unique vs. Quality: The Real Difference

The reason why so many low-quality videos can gain traction and even dominate in terms of viewership is because they offer something that polished, high-production content often lacks: uniqueness.

Think of YouTube as a vast ocean of content. There are thousands of creators producing well-edited, thoughtful, and well-researched videos. But guess what? A lot of those high-quality videos get lost in the flood. Why? Because they don’t stand out. It’s easy for content to blend in when everyone’s competing to hit the same standard of “quality.”

What really makes a video pop isn’t how crisp the resolution is or how perfect the transitions are—it’s originality. Something quirky, unexpected, or just downright strange can get people’s attention faster than another polished video that looks like a thousand others.

  • Authenticity: People are drawn to realness. Sometimes, raw, unedited content resonates more with viewers because it feels genuine and relatable, unlike overly polished material that might seem artificial or scripted.

If you’re just starting on YouTube, focus on what you can do that’s different. What’s your unique spin? How can you be the first in your niche to present something? The truth is, being a creator who stands out from the rest is what attracts people. It’s what gets people talking, sharing, and subscribing.

Do Something That Nobody Else is Doing

Look around YouTube, and you’ll notice that many successful creators don’t have the best cameras, lighting, or audio equipment. But what they do have is a fresh, original idea, personality, or perspective that sets them apart from the masses.

Find that thing that makes you different. Look for gaps in your niche, spaces where no one is really covering, and make that your own. Maybe everyone is doing fitness tutorials, but no one is addressing fitness for a specific group of people or with a specific method. Or maybe you’ve noticed a lack of humor in tech reviews. Whatever it is, make sure it’s something that only you can offer.

Remember, people aren’t necessarily looking for perfect. They’re looking for something new, exciting, and different. That’s how many creators turn their low-quality videos into viral sensations, simply because they brought something to the table that no one else was doing.

This doesn’t mean you should rush to make low-effort videos just to hit that number. Instead, focus on creating content that connects with your niche audience. Stay consistent, engage with your viewers, and optimize each video for discoverability through proper SEO techniques, such as including keywords in your titles, descriptions, and tags.


How Many Videos Should I Upload on YouTube Per Day?

If you’re truly serious about growing fast and staying competitive, daily uploads are almost a must. The YouTube algorithm rewards channels that consistently push out content, and daily videos keep your audience engaged and coming back for more.

That said, uploading daily can be exhausting, especially if you’re a solo creator. The key to managing daily uploads is to batch-produce content—film and edit multiple videos in one go so you can release them consistently without burning out. Keep in mind, though, the uniqueness of your content matters more than the sheer volume.

So, if you’re not yet able to upload daily, focus on putting out content that’s fresh, original, and stands out in your niche.
